In PMHS we have a long tradition of large numbers of pupils taking part in the D of E award. On the evening of Thursday 19th November we held an awards ceremony for pupils who to date this session have successfully completed their Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh awards. The D of E Young Leaders had responsibility for organising the event which was enjoyed by parents, staff and pupils. During the evening there were a few speeches which included hearing about some of the pupils’ experiences while working towards their awards.
Undertaking the D of E award at any level requires pupils to challenge themselves in a number of areas and without doubt they all learn a lot and benefit from their experiences. This session, as ever our Bronze (S3) intake was oversubscribed but there is an opportunity for pupils who were not able to be part of this group to undertake the award with Community Learning staff linked with the school. If you or your child is interested in this option please see Mrs Nicholls (DHT for S3) for more information.
