At Park Mains High School, our culture and ethos focus on developing well-rounded young people who are ready for learning, life and work. Through pupil leadership and consultation with our wider community, we have created a clear framework that aligns our values, skills and character education.
This framework is represented through the Park Mains Pyramid. At its foundation are our shared values — Ambition, Resilience and Kindness — which shape how we learn, support one another and approach challenges.
Built upon these values are the key skills pupils develop across their learning, including numeracy, literacy, communication, creativity, teamwork, problem solving, social skills and thinking skills. As pupils develop and reflect on these skills, character begins to grow, supporting success in attainment, employability and health & wellbeing.
Together, these elements ensure our young people leave Park Mains with the confidence, qualities and capabilities needed for the future.
Our values of Ambition, Resilience and Kindness sit at the heart of life at Park Mains High School.
Our values journey began through the Columba 1400 leadership experience, where staff and pupils explored the importance of values in leadership and community. Pupils then led a school-wide consultation with parents, staff and the wider community, helping shape the values that guide our school today.
These values form the foundation of the Park Mains Pyramid, underpinning the skills we develop and shaping the character of the young people who leave our school.
By making our values visible and celebrating them across our school community, we aim to ensure every young person leaves Park Mains with the values, skills and character needed to contribute positively to society.

In a rapidly changing world, developing skills is essential.
At Park Mains High School, we focus on building the skills that help young people succeed in learning, the workplace and their communities.
Our Skills Framework provides a shared language for skills across our school and cluster primary schools. It is designed to be embedded in everyday learning rather than something that is simply “bolted on”.
By recognising and reflecting on their skills, pupils develop the confidence and adaptability needed to navigate future opportunities and challenges.

At Park Mains High School, character education is developed through the alignment of our values and skills framework, represented by the Park Mains Pyramid.
Our aim is to develop practical wisdom — the ability for young people to apply their skills in a values-driven way to do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reasons.
Character education permeates our curriculum, our relationships and the ways we recognise and celebrate success.
Through this approach, we aim to ensure every young person leaves school ready for a positive destination, with the confidence, judgement and character needed to flourish in all aspects of their life.
