Health and Safety Issues – Parking in School Grounds

To ensure the Health and Safety of our pupils and staff is protected at the start and the end of the school day, parents should only park in the designated pick up/drop off zones located at either side of the car park. There is a Disabled Parking Area located at the front of the school building, which at the start and end of the school day is allocated only for parents/carers or taxis picking up pupils with a disability. Parents should not use this area unless the pupil has been allocated a blue disabled parking permit, the spaces are clearly marked for this. We appreciate there may be parents/carers who hold a blue disabled parking permit for themselves however priority is given to our pupils to allow them to walk as short a distance as possible.

There is also a designated parking area for school buses, which should only be used for the contracted school bus companies provided by Renfrewshire Council. There are approximately 400 pupils transported to Park Mains High School each day who board and disembark the buses in this area. To protect the safety of these pupils, parents should not park in the Bus Area at any time.

Should there be no space within the school car park, I would ask that parents park away from the school grounds in an appropriate place to prevent any impact on the safety of other people. I would also ask that parents do not park on the roundabout immediately outside the school as this may impact on the safety of our pupils leaving the school on foot, crossing the road or waiting for a public service bus.

I would appreciate your support in this matter.
