Traditionally S2 parents are invited in for an information evening to explain the options process as their children are about to make their first option choices. Following a suggestion from a parent we decided to expand the evening and include some careers information. A number of our parents volunteered to give brief presentations to pupils about their line of work. Other presenters were former pupils or from established business links. I was delighted that the evening was very well attended and during the evening pupils and their parents were given a presentation in the Assembly Hall about the options process and they then had the opportunity to visit about six different presenters of their choosing as they moved around the street area in a ‘speed dating’ style. A lot of positive feedback was received from pupils, parents and the presenters.
