Dear Parent/Carer
As we look forward to our Summer Holiday, I am writing to you with some reflections on the past year. This has been a busy and productive year with our school community stepping up time and time again both in and out with the classroom.
This year we have seen the return of SQA exams and our S4-6 acquitted themselves superbly, demonstrating an outstanding attitude and working with staff who worked relentlessly to support pupils in the run up to these assessments. In S1-3 pupils have worked hard, building skills that will help them moving forward into the Senior Phase and have had many enriching experiences including Cop26 and Maths Challenge as well as the entire S1 year group writing to residents of local care homes at Christmas time.
Outside the classroom, staff and pupils have maximised opportunities to broaden experiences and develop skills, ranging from trips to the theatre, visiting the Science Centre and sports tournaments to our most recent Activities Days where pupils and staff enjoyed spending time together. For Activities Day, events in school proved popular as did our trips to places as far flung as Blackpool and Alton Towers; a huge thanks to all staff involved for the organisation and supervision of these trips.
Our summer newsletter highlights many of the activities that our pupils have been involved with this term: https://parkmains.com/summer-newsletter/
Looking to next year, we are looking forward to our new S1 pupils joining us after a successful transition programme this term. The new S1 have already made an excellent impression on our school community and we will continue to work in partnership with parents to make the transition as smooth as possible.
As intimated in my letter of 6th June, our Pastoral Care structure will change as of August, designed to maximise support and to create a consistent team around each pupil as they move through the school. This enables pupils to foster strong and consistent relationships with Pastoral Care staff and Year Heads. A reminder of the new structure is as follows:
| Year Group | Year Head | Pastoral Care Teacher |
| S1 | Miss Maynes | Miss Still |
| S2 | Mrs Crean | Mr Wake |
| S3 | Ms Taylor | Mrs Gillespie (Mon-Wed) Mrs Shearer (Thurs & Fri) |
| S4 | Mrs Kirkwood | Ms Stewart |
| S5 | Miss Maynes | Mrs Hendry |
| S6 | Mr Wilson | Mr McLean |
We will continue to strive for excellence in all areas of school life including school uniform where we will continue to uphold our high standards for our young people. The link to the school uniform booklet is: http://parkmains.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Uniform-2022.pdf
Finally, we look forward to welcoming the school back on the 17th August. Exam results are issued to young people on the 9th and staff will be available in the school on the afternoon of the 11th to support pupils in re-coursing if required. More information including a booking form will come out nearer the time.
Wishing you a warm and restful summer.
