S1 Pupil Achievement

In September 2017 Niamh McGrory performed as part of  ‘Glasgow Philharmonia does Variety’ at the City Halls in Glasgow. Glasgow Philharmonia is an orchestra set up to give young musicians and performers an outlet to perform and gain experience within the music industry. In October 2017 Niamh auditioned with 250 other chidren and gained a place in the 35 strong Kids Cast that took part in the Movies to Musicals show in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in Febuary. This involved a 3 day residental stay in Ardintinny over the Febuary holiday for rehearsals. In March this year, Niamh performed at the Armadillo as part of the Abba Mania show. Back in November Niamh auditioned for the National Youth Choir of Scotland National Girls Choir as she has been in the Renfrewshire Choir since P4. She was chosen from hundreds of children who auditioned from all over Scotland to attend their residential course in Loretto, Musselbourgh for the second week of the Easter break. This ended with a fantastic concert in Perth Concert Hall and they are performing at events all over Scotland over the summer. This weekend coming Niamh is performing in Braehead to raise money for the QEUH hospital radio. At Christmas she performed in the Central Station to raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity. These events are organised by her vocal coach Angela McCallum and gives the children a chance to perform while raising money for local charities.

This Sunday she was performing in the Regonal Finals of Teenstar Uk in Edinburgh and we are delighted to confirm that she has been selected to take part in the finals in Leeds in May this year. Niamh is one of the 6 children chosen from 20 to go through to the Area final of Teenstar in Leeds. This will take place at the end of May. Last Sunday she sang Somebody to Love, the Scaramoush version from We Will Rock You. Niamh was excellent in her performance, well done on all your hard work and commitment.

Good luck in Leeds in May
