The competition to be UK City of Culture 2021 is hotting up with the announcement today of the eleven candidate cities:

We are now moving into the next phase of the competition and each candidate will submit their official bid by 28 April. There will be a shortlisting phase in May/June and shortlisted candidates will move to the second phase of competition, with the winner announced at the end of the year.
We will be doing everything we can from the communications and marketing side to spread the word about Paisley’s bid over the next couple of months and, as always, your help and support will be very much appreciated.
Today, we are asking all of our partners and supporters to show their support on social media – if your school has a presence on Twitter and/or Facebook, please show your support using the tags @Paisley2021 @DCMS and using #UKCityofCulture2021.
We are also encouraging as many people as possible to go to our bid website at www.paisley2021.co.uk and back the bid by pushing the 2021 button on the homepage – again, as appropriate, your school’s support in encouraging people to this would be a great help.
