Budding Apprentices

Mrs Watson Director of HR for Thales UK came along to do a presentation to senior pupils along with a former pupil Fraser Guthrie who is a manufacturing technician apprentice with Thales in Glasgow.

The session was organised in conjunction with the Technical Department and senior pupils in from these classes participated along with other pupils who have indicated they would like to be engineers.

Mrs Watson gave a presentation on recruitment procedures, interview hints and tips and assessment centres. Mrs Watson stressed Engineering is a lifelong career and Thales offer technician and graduate apprenticeships as well as graduate internships and Graduate Engineer posts.  Fraser gave the pupils first hand information on the assessment centres and what is involved. Mrs Watson discussed Thales and the business they do and also stressed the importance of preparing for assessment centres by researching the firm they are applying to.

With recruitment to apprenticeships in full swing this was a really useful session as it will really help pupils with all their engineering applications. The pupils were fully engaged with the speakers and I am sure they will benefit from all these hints and tips.
To reinforce this presentation there is  plenty of information on
www.myworldofwork.co.uk on applications, cv’s, interviews and the strengths quiz to help you with the interviews. You can also go to www.apprenticeships.scot where there are lots of current apprentice vacancies and information on foundation, modern and graduate apprenticeships.
