Free Bus Travel

The Scottish Government is introducing a free bus travel scheme for children in Scotland aged 5 to 21 which will be known as the ‘Young Persons’ Scheme’.

It is a requirement of the scheme that a parent or guardian applies on behalf of any person under 16, to ensure that they can exercise their parental rights and responsibilities on whether it is appropriate to allow their child to access free bus travel.

Young people aged 16-21 years old (inclusive) can apply for their own National Entitlement Card or Young Scot National Entitlement Card to get access to the free bus travel entitlement.

Further information on the scheme and full details on how to apply are available at Young Persons’ Free Bus Travel Scheme (transport.gov.scot)
