Head Teacher’s Blog – Week beginning 20.4.15

As I intimated in the newsletter which was issued prior to the Spring Break it is my intention to write a weekly blog which will give recent highlights and reminders. Please bear with me as I develop the process!

End of term attendance
You will be aware that our usual practice is to send out a ‘group call’ each morning to parents whose children are absent without explanation. This was done on Thursday 2nd April. Some pupils who were present in the morning were absent later in the day. If we received no explanation for this absence it will be recorded as ‘unathorised’. Should you wish to check your child’s attendance on that day, please call the school and the office staff or your child’s Guidance teacher will be able to advise you.

Dress Code
I also intimated in the recent newsletter that we would be very grateful for any items of dress code which are no longer required by your child/children. This means we can build up a stock of items to give to pupils who may be in need either for short or long term use. This plea applies particularly to ties and blazers.

S6 leavers
This week saw our S6 pupils complete their time in Park Mains High School. They have overall been an excellent year group and their last week saw them saying farewell to staff and pupils which included the traditional shirt signing on Thursday. The week ended with their Valedictory Ceremony which took place this afternoon. It was a most enjoyable occasion with speeches, an awe inspiring musical performance by David Small, the presentation of cheques to our chosen charities and pupils receiving their Year Books. The ceremony concluded with a wonderful video presentation which was produced by Robyn Johnstone and provides a fabulous record of the pupils’ year. An informal gathering for pupils, guests and staff took place after the event.
