Numeracy plays a vital role in the examination of past. Numerical data can be used to verify historical evidence and opinions. It therefore helps students to identify bias and limitations.

Numerical charts such as bar graphs and pie charts are used to aid the analysis of data and form important conclusions. Percentages and ratios can also be used to support arguments in essays and source questions. Numeracy can also be used to aid our understanding of time and chronology.

The use of numbers and statistics is therefore extremely important in History!
