We have been receiving a number of calls regarding pupils not being allowed to travel on the school bus from Bishopton. To enable pupils to travel, parents must submit an application for free school to Renfrewshire Council via the website – www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/schooltransport. The application will be processed by Renfrewshire Council and a letter will be issued to the parent to confirm the application has been granted or declined. Once the letter is received granting a place, the pupil can travel on the allocated school bus. Pupil cannot travel on a school bus until the letter has been received. The allocation of a place on a school bus is based on the home address and the pupil can only travel on the allocated bus.
Renfrewshire Council has confirmed this morning that a large number of application have been received after the start of the school term and there has been a number of letters posted to parents yesterday. Once the contractor has confirmation of which bus a child has been allocated to, a bus pass will be issued and must be carried by the pupil every day. The contractor will ask for the pass to be shown to the driver as they board the bus.
For any parents who have a question regarding school transport applications please contact Renfrewshire Council directly on 0300 300 0170 or send an email to – firstname.lastname@example.org
