Pupils will encounter aspects of Numeracy in many activities within P.E.

Core skills of Addition or Subtraction are used in scoring as points based scoring varies significantly across sports.

In Athletics timing is used with reference to tenths and hundredths of seconds and of course an element of rounding when scores are recorded can be used. Likewise in Field events pupils are asked to estimate the Distance thrown or jumped before exact measurement is taken.

Heart rates in ‘beats per minute’ are recorded during Fitness work and these are compared to National Averages. Target Heart rates are also used to hit cardio training zones on fitness machines.

Pupils will use Numeracy across the year groups and calculations will feature as part of the completion of National Qualifications.
