Due to the increase in roll this season we have appointed another English Teacher (Miss Dyer), a Maths Teacher (Mrs Flannigan) and a part-time Science Teacher (Mrs Metivier) on a temporary basis. Mr Campbell was successful in being appointed to Acting Principal Teacher of Maths at St. Benedict’s High School and we wish him well in his new post.
We will also welcome Ms McGuigan as a Classroom Assistant, Ms Kane as an Additional Support Needs Assistant and Ms. Eck in the office, in the New Year.
From the last newsletter it was proposed that a launch of PMHS Twitter and Facebook would occur sometime this term. Unfortunately, this has not been possible but we are hoping that a launch in early January will enable parents to access any updates to the website via these social media formats. Please continue to notify us of any of your child’s achievements through the school email address or a call to the school office.
On my return, I was keen to “take the temperature” of the school in terms of the views of pupils, parents and staff and I have recently held focus groups for parents and staff which have been informative in determining where we are as a school in terms of strengths, areas for development, the school aims and other issues. I intend to use the forthcoming parents’ nights in January and February to further canvass parental views through the use of questionnaires. Through tutor groups, all pupils have had the opportunity to engage in discussions in small groups on these matters and an action plan will be drawn up in response to the key points pupils have raised.

There is continuing concern re pupils crossing at the large Centreholm roundabout to access the shopping centre particularly at lunchtime. This has been raised at the “Erskine & Inchinnan Community Safety Partnership” which is made of representatives from the local community: local councillors, police, Renfrewshire Community Safety Team, Community Council and other agencies. This issue has been raised with pupils at the Christmas Assemblies. There will be a concerted effort by the police, Community Safety Teams and the school early in the New Year to ensure pupils are using the safe routes provided. Please speak to your child re this and for their own health and safety, strongly encourage them to use the safe routes. This a very busy roundabout and it is dangerous for any child to be crossing over this roundabout to get to Bridgewater.
The vast majority of our pupils do wear appropriate dress code at all times but we would like to remind parents of the following expectations:
- All S5 and S6 pupils should wear a blazer
- Footwear should be all black (Converse shoes are not permitted)
- Girls should not wear leggings/jeggings
Your support in ensuring high standards of dress code is always appreciated.
