PMHS Parent Council is planning a sponsored hill walk on Sat. 9th June.
Venue: Ben Lomond.
The aim is to have a sociable day out with other parents, perhaps some teachers and even some pupils!
If we can raise some money for additional school equipment or events then that’s great.
We will organise this on an individual basis (to avoid the school or the PC having any liability). The PC will suggest a meeting place, a suggested start time, provide individual sponsor forms, a packing list and everyone can make their own way there and walk at their own pace. Participants would be responsible for their own lunch, kit, kids, safety etc. If you can raise some funds through sponsorship or through a donation then that’s great (but not essential).
Hopefully this will be a pleasant day out and a chance to chat to other parents.
Hopefully the date is suitable for you – being after the SQA exams and before the Bishopton and Erskine Gala days (and before the midge season)
If you are interested in taking part please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
This is intended to be a fun event so we’ll carry out a weather check before confirming final details.
Best wishes. Russell
The Parent Council has received a request from the Head Boy and Head Girl to organise some real-life interview practice for senior pupils. The School and the Parent Council are very keen to support this request and we are looking for your help. Initially this will be for S6 pupils then S5 later in the year.
We would like to make this as realistic as possible for pupils so they can get as much out of this as possible. We are therefore seeking volunteers with interviewing experience to spend a few hours in the school during a workshop event to interview and coach individual pupils 1:1 on what to expect at an interview. This might include typical questions, good answers, dealing with nerves, feedback on their CV’s etc. If you have experience and are willing to take part then please let me know before Fri 23rd Feb.Alternatively if you can persuade your colleagues or employer to participate then please let me know. E mail your interest and interviewing experience to me at email@example.com and we will send you further details.
Your help and support would be greatly appreciated to give our children the best possible start to their future careers.

The Parent Council have agreed to help fund the purchase of 20 new keyboards for the music department. The Parent Council recognise the benefits of access to good quality musical instruments and are happy to support this initiative. Pupils and Staff of the music department have already raised a significant amount of the money required and the Parent Council have agreed to fund the remaining £1850.00 to allow the purchase to go ahead.
The last fundraising opportunity for 2017 will be at the School Christmas Concert on 12th Dec. The parent council will be running a café offering teas / coffees / soft drinks at the interval and organising a raffle.
Donation of raffle prizes can be made at any time to the school office. Volunteers are also required to help with the café.
In 2018 the Parent Council plan to organise a sponsored hill walk with parents, children and staff to raise additional funds for other additional equipment. More details to follow but if you are interested please contact the Parent Council.
S5 / S6 UCAS Information Evening.
Thank you to the school for organising the UCAS information evening this week (for College and University Applications). The information provided by the school, the careers advisor and the University of Glasgow speakers was very useful. For those that did not attend the Information Evening the UCAS website has some very useful information for parents – see https://www.ucas.com/file/101806/download?token=2DHk4PXV
The school will also put this weeks presentations on the school website.
Parent Council June 2017 : Russell Overend recently gave a talk about the Parent Council at the P7 Induction evening encouraging more parents/carers to become involved in the work of the Parent Council. Russell has been a member of the PC for a number of years and gave his view on his experience and the benefits of being involved.
All parents/carers are welcome to attend meetings (7 are held each year), if you can’t attend you can be added to our email distribution list or keep up with minutes via Facebook, Twitter and the school website.
This is my final year on the Parent Council and I have found it a great way of finding out more about the life of the school and being involved in discussions and consultations affecting the education of our children. I would recommend getting involved, meetings are held in the school and last about 90 minutes so not a huge commitment of time. Have a look at Russell’s update on the school website to find out more about the work of the PC.
The first meeting next year is Monday 21st August and the agenda will be issued via the school website.
Wishing you a Happy Summer from all on the Parent Council.
