The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is one of the largest and most successful engineering faculties in the UK, and the largest in Scotland. As a leading international technological university, Strathclyde University is recognised for its world class research, knowledge exchange and educational programmes. At the heart of this is the Faculty of Engineering which boasts a growing research portfolio of nearly £100 million. We are also the only Engineering Faculty in the UK to be engaged in eight multi-million pound EPSRC-funded Doctoral/Industrial Training Centres.

The department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering offers two engineering modern apprenticeships. Successful applicants will be trained in all aspects of engineering technical practice and will work towards the attainment of appropriate professional and academic qualifications.

We are currently looking for an Engineering Modern Apprentice to work as part of the engineering team supporting research and development activities within the Department. You should have a keen interest in developing a variety of technical skills, facilitating the pursuance of an interesting career in engineering. The successful candidate will also be trained to demonstrate practical skills to small groups of students.

You will have a minimum of 4 Nat 5’s at Level A, B, or C which should include English, Maths and Science and have good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

The Modern Apprenticeship programme is co-ordinated within the University and gives the successful candidate an opportunity to “earn and learn” as they will achieve a SQA qualification during the 2 year programme.
Please note that as a result of funding rules, Modern Apprentices must start the scheme before their 20th birthday.

Initial interviews have been scheduled for 05 July 2018.
